Mother of three Kaz Deacon, was a radio presenter prior to becoming pregnant with her second child in 2005. Inspired by her experiences of isolation and anxiety as a new mum, particularly when moving to Carmarthenshire in Wales, she decided to start a baby show business. The first was held as fundraiser for Leukaemia Research (in memory of her friend, who died of the cancer when she was just 16).
Kaz has dedicated over 3 years to event organising for Leukaemia Research even during her pregnancy and she won an award for bringing the first ever baby show to Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. Inspired by this came the launch of the first ever programme of baby shows designed specifically for parents in Wales.
Maud’s Baby Show, named in memory of her late grandmother who constantly inspired her to pursue her ambitions in life, with the added polar bears reminds her of her goal to achieve one day the opportunity to follow her love for the amazing animals and see them in the wild.
Starting a new business with three young children to raise hasn’t proved easy, but her determination to make these shows a success has already resulted in an exciting new service for Wales which can maintain a fond partnership with Leukaemia Research, where every penny raised in Wales stays in Wales.
After the fantastic success of 2009 shows, the demands of the welsh parents has resulted in Kaz employing more staff, more “welsh mums” who too have experienced firsthand all elements of parenting and also have the passion and drive to deliver a well needed and respected service for all welsh parents!
